Few days after lambasting Video Assistant Referee following a controversial goal awarded to Arsenal’s opponent Newcastle United, Mikel Arteta has now praised VAR, saying it made the right decision by sending Fabio Vieira off against Burnley in a Premier League clash on Saturday.
Arsenal went joint top of the Premier League table following a 3-1 win over the Clarets on Saturday.
Leandro Trossard, William Saliba, and Oleksandr Zinchenko had all scored for the hosts before Vieira was dismissed for a high tackle.
After the game at the Emirates, Arteta said: “With the red card, yes, thank you for asking me; VAR was right. The referee was right; really good decision. Really positive from Mikel to speak about that. Good decision.”
Recall that Premier League Discipline panel said center referee Stuart made the right decision by allowing Gordon’s goal against Arsenal last week Saturday at St James’ Park.
