The embattled former Executive Director of Aso Savings and Loans, Maimuna Aliyu will on Thursday be facing two separate cases at an Abuja High Court- one bordering on a three-count criminal charge on alleged N57million fraud and another relating to her alleged attempt to conceal evidence against murder.
Recall that TheNewsGuru.com had earlier reported that Justice M. A. Nasir of an Abuja High Court sitting at Jabi, fixed December 14 for the Federal Government to arraign Mrs. Aliyu.
In the charge before the court, FG alleged that Maimuna Aliyu had on the 7th of December, 2012 or thereabout in Abuja, being the Executive Director (Retail) of Aso Savings and Loan Plc, Abuja at the time, used her said position to confer corrupt advantage upon herself when she received the sum of about 360,000 dollars, the equivalent of N57 million at the time being the amount for the sale of Plots Nos 2432; and 2434 all in Cadastral Zone BO8, Jahi District, Abuja property of Aso Saving and Loans Plc: from one Banagana Bashir on behalf of Vincent Msheila and you failed to remit the said amount to Aso Savings and Loans Plc as required: and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000.
On the other side, Maimuna Aliyu, her son, Aliyu Sanda, and another lady were also charged by the FCT Police Command for alleged concealment of evidence at the crime scene of the suspected murder of their son-in-law, Bilyamin Bello, by her daughter Maryam Sanda.
This was contained in an amended charge filed by the police at the resumed hearing of the murder case holding at the FCT High Court Abuja.
In count one of the amended charge, the police alleged that Maryam had caused the death of her husband, Bilyamin Bello, “by stabbing him on the chest and other parts of the body with a knife and other dangerous weapons which eventually led to his death.”
The second count charge states that her mother Maimuna, her brother Aliyu, as well as one Sadiya Aminu, with the knowledge that a murder has been committed, “cause evidence of the offence to disappear.”
The presiding Judge on the case, Justice Yusuf Halilu ordered Maryam to be returned to the Suleja Prison after amending charges levelled against her.
The case was adjourned to today [14th of Dec, 2017] when Mrs Aliyu and the two co-defendants alleged to have tampered with the evidence would be arraigned.
