The Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Tajudeen Abbas has appointed Hon. Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere (Ikenga Imo) as Deputy Chairman of the special committees on Media and Public Affairs.
Abbas who announced the composition of the special Committees, said they are to help oversee the affairs of the House pending their return on July 4 and when the standing Committees of the House will be constituted.
The special committees include, selection, Media and Public Affairs, welfare, ethics, legislative agenda and internal security.
According to the Speaker, the Deputy Chairman of the special committee on Media and Public Affairs will be the member representing Ideato North South Federal Constituency of Imo state, Hon. Ugochinyere.
Ugochinyere before getting elected into the National Assembly was the spokesman of the Coalition of United Political Parties.
As a first timer, he was among the few lawmakers who from the onset believed in the emergence of Abbas and Benjamin Kalu as Speaker, Deputy Speaker respectively.
Despite being a member of the opposition PDP, he understood the importance of electing competent people to preside over the affairs of the parliament.
Hence he became the communication adviser of the Tajudeen Benjamin Kalu, TBK group, and campaigned strongly for them to win.
Ugochinyere is known to be confident and has never shied away from the media.
He will definitely handle this temporary position of deputy chairman house special committee on Media and Public Affairs very well.
