Following the death rumour that went viral on Monday, former Nigeria’s Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has spoken concerning it through his aide.
Gowon’s death rumour was debunked by his personal aide, Adeyeye E. Ajayi, via a statement on social media on Monday night.
Ajayi wrote: ” Gowon is “still around and well.”
“General Gowon is not in a hurry to go anywhere.”
Also dispelling the rumour is the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Delta state uring the last general election,Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi.
According to him, General Yakubu Gowon is hale hearty.
He said “I, Gbagi, just spoke with him. I hereby refute the rumour of the death of my”
However, it was gathered that a renowned University professor who shared same surname with the former Head of state, died two days ago and it sparked the rumour.
It was reported that a former Vice-Chancellor of Niger Delta University, Emeritus Prof. Samuel Gowon Edoumiekumor, died.
Prof Gowon reportedly passed on from complications related to lung cancer on Saturday, October 7 Gowon, the renowned professor of economics and social sciences died at the age of 53 in Lagos state.
