Immediate past governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, and his wife, Ebelechukwu, on Thursday, left the venue of the swearing-in ceremony of the fifth civilian governor of the state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, at exactly 9.55 am.
Obiano left with his wife, Ebelechukwu, who trekked out of the swearing-in ceremony venue.
Soludo, who came in the company of his wife, Mrs Nonye, his Deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim, had taken his oath of office.
Obiano arrived in a convoy of cars, amidst cheers from Anambra people, and inspected the guard of honor, his last task as governor.
Dignitaries in Anambra State and beyond scrambled to enter the venue of swearing-in, Anambra State government house.
The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor had at an earlier function announced that not more than 50 people will attend the event, as he intends that it will be brief enough to end on time and allow him space to move to Okpoko, where he intends to start work.
As of early Thursday, the venue of the inauguration was a hive of activities as guests, including the outgoing governor and his wife, began to arrive.
The atmosphere looked bright as the red carpet covered much of the inauguration ground.
A strong security presence within and around the Government House was seen, as guests were also checked at the entrance of the premises.
Earlier, a circular notifying the public about the programme of the event, showed that sixty-three guests were invited to the inauguration.
