The All Progressive Congress (APC) has won the Burutu and Ethiope West State Constituency re-run elections to the Delta House of Assembly, held on Saturday.
The INEC result showed that Mr Alapala Ebitonmo of the APC in the Burutu State Constituency polled 7,728 votes to emerge the winner of the contest.
The Returning Officer for Burutu, Mr Arnold Osugo, announced that Ebitonmo defeated his closest rival, Mr Asupa Forteta of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 6,616 votes.
Osugo further said that the total valid votes in the election was 14,754.
The re-run election was held in Ayakoroumor Unit 8, Oboro Unit 9, Enekorogha Unit 26 and Edegbene Unit 27 – all in Burutu Local Government Area.
Also, in Ethiope West State Constituency, Mr Blessing Achoja of the APC scored the highest number of votes.
According to the Returning Officer for Ethiope West, Prof. Ezekiel Agbalagbe, Achoja polled 6,462 votes.
Agbalagbe said that the APC candidate defeated his closest rival, Mr Christian Onogba of the PDP, who scored 5,057 votes.
The INEC returning officer further announced that 12,041 valid votes were cast in the election.
The re-run election took place in 39 polling units in Ethiope West, cutting across Wards 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 in Oghara-efe, Mosogar and Jesse Communities.
