Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Senate, Dino Melaye has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris over the alleged role of the Commissioner of Police in the state CSP Mohammed Sanni in assassinating him (Melaye).
Melaye alleged that Sanni was receiving orders from Governor Yahaya Bello to join forces with touts in assassinating him and render the state lawless.
The embattled senator stated this in a petition written to the IG.
He alleged that the CP provided officers who joined forces with touts to disrupt a rally he held to address members of his constituency at the state polytechnic (Kogi Poly) on Monday (June 12) therefore making an attempt on his life in the process.
TheNewsGuru.com reports that Melaye had earlier accused Governor Bello of sponsoring the attacks and his recall from the Senate.
Recounting his ordeal after the attack, the Senator said two people in his convoy were hit and are already receiving treatments at an undisclosed hospital. The Senator stated that his bullet proof car made it difficult for the bullets fired at him to penetrate. He also acknowledged the help of some DSS officials who came to his rescue.
He however maintained that he will not be intimidated from speaking for the people whom he said are feeling the pains of the economic hardship in the state (Kogi) under the Governor Yahaya Bello led administration
TheNewsGuru.com reports that Melaye had in April allegedly narrowly escaped death after gunmen invaded his country home in Ayetoro-Gbede area of the state.
