The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has commenced pre-hearing all petitions challenging the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu the winner of the 2023 presidential election but this has been challenged by opposition parties that participated in the election.
The petitions challenging the 2023 presidential election will be determined by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
At the time of filling this report, the panel of judges led by Justice Haruna Tsammani are already seated at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal courtroom.
The five-man panel of justices include Justice Stephen Adah, Justice Misitura Bolaji-Yusuf, Justice Boloukuoromo Moses Ugo and Justice Abbah Mohammed.
TNG reports the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal is the court of first instance and has jurisdiction in presidential election-related petitions.
In his opening remarks, Justice Tsammani assured that the panel will treat all petitions justly and in a timely manner.
Tsammani urged parties before the court to refrain from making sensational comments that could cause unrest in the country.
“I want to appeal to everyone in this matter not to make sensational comments that could set the country on fire. We on our part too, will ensure that justice is given to the one who deserves it,” Justice Tsammani said.
