The Inspector General of Police, (IGP)Usman Baba, has given an assurance to policemen that there will be salary increment in no distant time.
IGP Baba mentioned that President Buhari has already endorsed the implementation of the new salary structure, adding it will take effect very soon.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Research & Planning and Supervising) Johnson Babatunde conveyed IGP Baba’s assurance on Wednesday in Lagos.

Babatunde disclosed that relevant federal government were working on the payment and had reached final stages of computation of emolument details.
He listed the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) and the Ministry of Police Affairs.
The DIG further disclosed that the issue of promotion is being looked into to ensure deserving officers and men get elevated accordingly.
Lagos Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi thanked IGP for allaying the fears and doubts of personnel and pledged a renewed dedication to duty.
Recall that the rank and file already planned to go on strike on the 26th of March citing underpayment as the core reason.
It remains to be seen if the junior officers will embark on the strike or shelve it as a result of the assurance from IGP Baba.
