The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru, on Friday visited Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Baru was sighted at the vice president’s office at the same time President Muhammadu Buhari was meeting with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.
Reports have it that after leaving Osinbajo’s office, Baru headed for the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.
The NNPC MD later joined President Buhari for Jumaat service at the Presidential Villa mosque located beside the president’s office.
Kachikwu had in a leaked letter to Buhari, accused Baru of insubordination and humiliation, alleging that against the rules, over $25bn contracts awarded by the NNPC were never reviewed or discussed with him or the board of the NNPC.
The minister had also alleged that the NNPC boss had repeatedly sidelined and disrespected the board of the national oil firm chaired by the minister of state.
