Benue State governor-elect, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has been given the invitation to be part of a seamless transition committee by Governor Samuel Ortom.
Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia who was declared the winner of the March 18 guber poll has been given the privilege to nominate his representatives to the transition committee set up by the State Government.
Ortom, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the Transition Committee, Prof Anthony Ijohor, visited the Governor-elect at his Makurdi residence to present Ortom’s letter to him.
He also assured the Governor-elect of a seamless handover to the incoming administration on May 29, 2023.
In his brief remarks, the Governor-elect, Fr Alia expressed appreciation to Ortom for congratulating him and also formally requesting him to join in the State Transition Committee in preparation for the May 29 handover.
Alia pledged that he will in the next few days nominate some members of his team to join the Transition Committee as requested by the incumbent governor.
The Governor’s delegation also comprised the State Head of Civil Service, Mrs Veronica Onyeke and the Commissioner for Education, Dr Saawuan Tarnongu.
TheNewsGuru.com reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, as the winner of the March 18 poll and the Governor-Elect.
The Catholic priest won 473,933 votes ahead of his closest rival and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Titus Uba, who scored 223,913.
