It was beautiful atmosphere in the hall within the compound of Mende Senior High School when the Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School Old Students Association 81 to 83 Sets came together under the association’s Corporate Social Responsibility to uplift Mende Senior High School (A secondary School within the Community of their Alma Mater) with furniture and appliances to the tune of 12 million.
The laudable projects was received by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo on behalf of the Lagos State Government being the proprietor of the receiving school, Mende Senior High School.
The Commissioner used the occasion to remind the students seated in the hall to face their studies as that is the only way they can deliver and outperform what 81-83 sets are doing. She also specially appreciated the gesture of MCSSOSA 81-83 sets saying it was in tune with the state government’s undiluted education policy to all Lagosians.
Speaking at the handover ceremony on Wednesday, President of MCSSOSA 81-83 sets, Mrs. Fabanwo Aderonke said the decision to renovate Mende Senior High School was borne out of the fact that the school was carved out of Immaculate Secondary School. She explained that aside Mende, Immaculate and other adjoining schools, the association is posed to extend a helping hand to as many of the schools it can reach to make learning easy and comfortable for students. She said so far, the gesture is designed to capture both staff and students’ needs.
According to her, the MCSSOSA 81-83 sets in its CSR programmes rose to the task right from the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus pandemic last year by distributing Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to both students and teachers.
In all, the MCSSOSA 81-83 sets renovated the sick bay, principal’s office, staff rooms, Physics and Chemistry laboratories, Food and Nutrition laboratory and over 242 ready made furniture for students. However, they had earlier renovated the three Vice Principals’ offices and administrative office all within the school complex.
