Three passengers miraculously escaped death last night after they were trapped in a car when a 40ft container fell on the popular Ojuelegba bridge inward Stadium on Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere, Lagos State.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the miraculous escape of the three trapped passengers was made possible by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who rescued them alive.
Out of the three casualties rescued, only one (male) came out unhurt and was allowed to go immediately, according to a statement by Adebayo Taofiq, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA.
“The remaining 2 rescued casualties (an adult male and a female) were rushed to hospital by an ambulance belonging to LASEMA,” the statement by LASTMA reads in part.
TNG reports the 40ft container fell on top of a Toyota Corolla car with registration number: JJJ 811 FB on top of the Ojuelegba bridge inwards Stadium.
Traffic Officer, Olajide Olukoga, who led the LASTMA rescue operations at the scene of the accident confirmed policemen from Surulere Police Division were at the scene to provide adequate security.
It was gathered that the entire Ojuelegba bridge inwards Stadium was temporarily closed and traffic was diverted to the service lane by LASTMA while the rescue and recovery operations lasted.
