The 2024 Nigeria Pitch Awards for outstanding football players, administrators and journalists will hold next year match on a FIFA international window at a yet to be announced venue in March 2024, the Organizers of the yearly award have said.

This was made known at a press Conference held in Lagos on Tuesday.

According to the organizers,  the voting process will begin on December 4 and ends on January 12, 2024 while the winners would be announced during the International Match Window in March 2024.

Convener, Nigeria Pitch Awards, Phillips proudly said that the NPS   has been built on integrity, credibility and transparency, since 2012.

“To achieve this, we completely removed ourselves as organisers, from the award decisions as that was left entirely to sports editors and journalists across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). It’s to our credit that in the last 10 years, after 480 nominations and 160 winners, there have been no controversial award decisions,”

“There has been no controversial award decision. The Nigeria Pitch Awards owe this feat to the college of voters and the independent vote collating body.

“Our successes would not have been without the support of God, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and sports journalists.

“At inception, our determination was to create an award platform built on integrity, credibility and transparency.

“To achieve this, we completely removed ourselves from the award voting process, and handed it over to journalists across the 36 states of the federation,” he said.

Phillips pledged that the awards would continue to grow to an enviable height that would see it compete with global football awards.

“We are delighted that the Nigeria Pitch Awards has come to stay and has become an integral part of our annual football calendar.

“This has come at enormous cost and sacrifice. Even in the face of dearth of sponsors, we have remained consistent and steadfast in celebrating our football heroes.

He added that the organisation was planning big for the 10th edition, and that before the awards there would be a symposium on the future of football in Nigeria.

“However, voting is scheduled to begin on Dec. 4 and end on Jan. 12, 2024. The 10th Award ceremony is expected to hold in March 2024 during the International Match window,” he said.

Phillips thanked the president of NFF, Ibrahim Gusau, for his support toward the project.

“We also thank past presidents, Alh Aminu Maigari and Mr Amaju Pinnick, and special mention to Mr Ademola Olajire for his unflinching support,” he said.

The president assured that in the years to come, the Nigeria Pitch Awards will continue to assemble guests and fans to celebrate footballers, officials, administrators, corporate bodies, states and journalists who work tirelessly and determinedly to bring glory to Nigeria and uplift the standard of football in the country.
