Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that the State Government will complete some key projects in 2017 which will be christened “Jubilee Projects” as the State marks her 50th anniversary.
He said that the State’s Golden Jubilee celebration which will commence in May, will showcase the best of Rivers state people.
Speaking at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday when he received the Interim report of the Golden Jubilee Committee, Governor Wike noted that the Golden celebration will further project the state positively.
He called on the committee to swing into action immediately, so that the State will have a worthwhile Jubilee celebration.
Governor Wike lauded the Golden Jubilee Committee for a well-researched report, pointing out that implementation will start after the State Executive Council meets with the committee.
“I want to urge members of the Golden Jubilee Committee to immediately swing into action. This celebration requires Publicity that is why we must begin early, he said.
Earlier, Chairman of the Rivers State Golden Jubilee Committee, Chief Ferdinand Alabrabra informed that the unveiling the Golden Jubilee logo and a world press conference will herald the celebration.
He said that cultural events and performances will showcase Rivers State to the world, while a book on Rivers State at 50 and recognition awards for those who contributed to the growth of the State will also feature.
Chief Alabrabra added that the committee also suggested the way forward by proposing Vision 2067, which stipulates where the State will be in 50 years.
