The National Assembly complex gates were today shut down by parliamentary workers who joined the ongoing protests by the organized labour.
Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress announced a nationwide indefinite strike starting Tuesday despite a court order restraining the unions from doing so.
The Nigeria Labour Congress last week gave a notice of strike over assaut and brutality of NLC president, Joe Ajaero on November 1 2023, in Imo State.
The Union had demanded the removal of the Commissioner of Police in Imo State and arrest of government officials involved in Ajaero’s brutality.
On Tuesday, November, 14 all the gates leading to the National Assembly complex were locked by striking workers.
Findings show that many workers were seen stranded at the entrance of the National Assembly, however, our correspondent reports that despite the lockdown, plenary is still ongoing in the House of Representatives at the time of this report.
