The management of the University of Ibadan (UI) has issued a stern warning to members of the public not to allow themselves to be swindled or scammed by some unknown criminals.
The University issued this warning on Thursday, August 17.
In a statement signed by Adejoke Akinpelu, Principal Assistant Registrar and Public Relations Officer, the institution said that no property has been put on sale.
She was very furious to know that some persons put some properties for sale online without the institution endorsing or knowing anything about it.
Some of the properties the scammers put up for sale were property, assets, and land belonging to the institution.
She added that the management of the university expressed dismay at an online sale advertisement announcing the sale of the property, assets, and land of the institution.
According to her: “The Management of the University of Ibadan has expressed dismay at an online sale advert announcing the sale of the property, assets, and land of the University of Ibadan. The Management and the Governing Council of the University have not caused any such advert to be put out.
“Members of the public, especially the international community, are advised not to allow themselves to be swindled. The University of Ibadan, its assets, and landed property are not up for sale. Meanwhile, the Department of State Services has been notified and requested to bring the supposed agents to book.”
