There was a mild drama at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) yesterday, as Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore and a student activist, Adeyeye Olorunfemi, who was rusticated over an ‘anti-UNILAG-authority’ Facebook post, storm the varsity’s convocation programme.
Recall that the student, Adeyeye was rusticated last year for posting an article critical of the university authority’s mishandling of situations.
In a video published on SaharaTV and obtained by TheNewsGuru.com, Sowore and Adeyeye were trying to reach the podium where the Vice Chancellor, Rahmon Bello was seated when some of the varsity’s security details, aided by two other policemen whisked them out of the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Police in Lagos state arrested (Adeyeye) and another UNILAG student for allegedly attacking the Vice Chancellor with a view to disrupting the convocation week.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, who confirmed the arrest to newsmen on yesterday, said the leader of the group, who planned the attack, was also arrested.
