Christian Legislators at the National Assembly on Tuesday announced plans to hold the 9th Prayer Breakefast with the theme: Truth, Service and Good Governance.
The National Prayer Breakfast an annual interdenominational prayer project has been bringing together Christian legislators from all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria since the year 2000.
Announcing the ninth edition of the prayer session yesterday at the House of Representatives Press Centre, Hon. Tajudden Yusuf who led other christian lawmakers at a press conference said that Nigeria is in dire need of prayers to overcome numerous challenges.
He stated that the prayer session is imperative as Nigeria must continue to pray because God made us all out of his own image and as such must pray to him and strive to be righteous.
He drew inference from the biblical book of Isaiah 33:22 noting that earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.
Other christian legislators as Sen. Ita Enag and Hon.Pally Iriase that Nigeria needs prayer to overcome her numerous challenges.
Enang particularly pointed out that it is God the invisible hand that has held the country together despite some many challenges it had faced in the past.
Dignitaries expected at the event are President Muhammad Buhari who is the guest of honour while the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Yakubu Dogara are the chief host and co-host respectively.
