The Emeritus Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, High Chief Dr.Raymond Dokpesi and hundreds of protesters in the early hours today, defiling the heavy downpour of the rains stormed the National Assembly to protest illegal clampdown on the Media by Federal Government agencies.

Dokpesi along side others on uniform T-Shirts with the inscription ‘Gag the Media….. Kill Democracy ” condemned the undue interference of government agencies in the running of the media despite the freedom of Speech provision in the Nigerian Constitution.
The protesters also condermed the recent move by the National Broadcasting Corporation, NBC, to specifically gag AIT and shut it down over its popular early morning programme, Kakaaki social. They demanded for the immediate intervention of the National Assembly in the matter in the interest of the Nation’s democracy; they also want the removal of the Director General of the NBC, Kawu Modibo over his unprofessional running of the Commission.
They condemned what they called deliberate attempt by the NBC to clamp down on AIT’s popular early morning progarmme ‘Kaakaki’ and called on the House to prevail on the National Broadcasting Commission to relieve the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission NBC Mr Ishaq Moddibo Kawu of his position for what they described as unprofessional conduct by a public office holder.
