A member of the House of Representatives, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama on Saturday felicitated with Christians on the occasion marking the Easter celebration.
The Edo born Lawmaker representing Oredo Federal Constituency in his message to the Christians in Edo state advised them to celebrate, not forgetting to adhere to the social distancing directives aimed at combating the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
He said “While at first thought, we feel sad that the present situation will not permit us to celebrate this Holy event as we normally would, deeper insight will help us see that the circumstances present a veritable opportunity to meditate on what the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ did for us”.
The governorship hopeful on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the Edo State scheduled for September 2020 went philosophical with a Bible verse.
“In John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?
“What this scripture tells us is that through his death and resurrection, he separated us from death and gave us Life”.
“As we mark this Easter, maintaining social distancing, let the above scripture strengthen our faith to know that as we play our roles (for faith without works is dead), we who believe in Christ will not fall to this scourge, but will live to see its end and experience new prosperity and blessings”.
“I pray that the blessings of easter will remain real in our personal lives and bring cleansing to our dear Edo State. Once more, I wish you all a blessed Easter,” the House Committee Chairman on Culture and Tourism added.
