Owing to the controversies generated by the outcome of the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections in which incumbent President Muhammad Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC was declared winner against other 72 candidates from other political parties, the ongoing Gubernatorial and Houses of Assembly elections is witnessing a low voter turn out in Enugu State communities.
At most polling stations and polling booths in Aguobu-Owa, Imezi- Owa, Mgbagbu Owa and other communities in Ezeagu Local Government council of Enugu state in which the last batch of election is being conducted, very few voters are seen casting votes for their choice candidates.
However, the ongiong polls is being conducted in an atmosphere devoid of any acrimony or any other form of violence as both the candidates and voters are undertaking their civic duties with any form of interfenece or molestation.
At both polling stations 007, 008, and 009 in Ezema, Aguobu-Owa town, headquarters of Ezeagu Local Government council of Enugu State, voters are hardly seen lined up as it the case in the previous election because they believed their votes due not usually count after the excercise.
The Newsguru reporter who monitored the exercise which commenced at 8.00 am at various polling units in the town observed a very high degree of voter a party by the indegenes of the community.
Upon enquiries, this reporter was told that the previous Presidential and National Assembly elections in which President Buhari of the APC was declared the winner of the Presidential poll was the reason the voters shunned the latest polls.
Some of the voters who voted one after another at polling booth 009 near Ezibeaniakor market square at Ezema community blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for the low voter turn out and aparty for the gubernatorial and Houses of Assembly election noting that the previous exercise conducted by it was not free, fair and credible.
