TNG reliably gathered that the exodus is making the area scanty. Juji, a settlement just 15 kilometres from kaduna metropolis was recently hit by bandits who kidnapped and kill residents at will.

A medical doctor and philanthropist Philip Ataga is the most recently affected victim who paid 20 million naira to rescue his two children but lost his wife who was killed by the dare devil bandits after a ransom of 150 million naira wasn’t provided.

It could be recalled that Dr Ataga donated a police station building located just 50 metres from his house just few weeks before he was attacked. “If a whole doctor Ataga who built a police station can be attacked and his wife killed, who are we?…I am leaving this area for good ohhh…. ” Mrs Linda Ishaya told TNG in Kaduna.

Asked where she is relocating to; Mrs Ishaya refused to disclose but simply said ‘…. I am going to somewhere safe.

The horrible experience of Dr Phillip Ataga no doubt sent shivers down the spine of Juji residents. An elderly man who pleaded anonymity claimed the state is under siege” and if the state government do not rise to its responsibility of protecting lives and properties, there will be chaos.

In his words: “we have no other state than this, kaduna is our home, we must solve this problem, the state government must rise to its responsibilities…. ”

Different trucks are seen going in and out of Juji on a daily basis loading home appliances to different destinations.

A young man named Abdullahi Sule said residents are not to blame for relocating as law enforcement agents cannot be relied upon. “…. we protested on January 25th but we don’t think something will be done that is why you see people relocating….. ”
