The Chief of Army Staff (CAS) Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has commended the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, for his support and confidence reposed in the Army.
Gen Yahaya made this known, during the inaugurationbm of a maiden edition of Capt – Maj. Written Promotion Examination Direct Regular Commission(CMWPE DRC) 2023 on Monday in Muhammadu Buhari Auditorium at Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, Ugbowo Benin.
Gen. Yahaya also appreciated the importance of the examination, stating that the edition of CMWPE DRC was the first of its kind in the history of Nigerian Army (NA).
According to him, the examination is to ensure that officers fit-in all situations.
He advised candidates to avoid any form of exam malpractice as it would lead to immediate disqualification and further disciplinary actions.
He noted that the candidates were most privileged to be the pioneers of the exam which was in line with his command philosophy and the desire to develop the capabilities of personnel across the NA and as well improve their military profession and areas of specialisation.
He further reiterated that, the exercise was to develop competency among all commissions in the Army in line with his vision of having “a professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned mission within a joint environment in defence of Nigeria”.
According to him, this is also a cardinal pillar of the command philosophy.
He added that the exam was derived in further directions to ensure that officers were competent in their chosen career as well as in their various corps.
Similarly, Gen. Yahaya noted that the exam was not meant to witchunt anyone, rather for self improvement and career development.
He thanked the President and Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Stevenson Olabanji, for his effort to make the preparation process a successful one.
He also appreciated the Corps Commander Supply and Transport and Commandant Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport for providing a conducive environment for the conduct of the exam.
Present at the event were Commander, TRADOC NA; Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters; Corps Commander, Supply and Transport; General Officer Commanding 2 Division; Commandant Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport; Senior officers and members of the Directing Staff.
