Dr Oluwole Adetiran, who composed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) anthem is dead TheNewsGuru.com reliably gathered.
Members of the Celestial Church of God (CCC) which he attended also confirmed his death.
Adetiran’s death was also announced in multiple Facebook groups of the Celestial Church of Christ, as he held various music positions at the church.
Before his demise, the NYSC anthem composer held the position of National Music Director of Celestial Church of Christ (CCC).
The NYSC anthem was composed by him in 1984 when he was doing is youth service.
Last year, Adetiran was seriously ill. He explained that he had been afflicted by various diseases, including hypertension, diabetes and prostate cancer since 2018
Adediran, who studied Music at University of Nigeria, Nsuka, recalled that he composed the anthem while he was serving as a corps member in Oyo State.
He had served as the Head of Music Department of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, between 2003 and 2007 before his retirement from the institution in 2008.
Last year, NYSC Director-General Brig-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim led a high-powered delegation of the scheme to the residence of Adetiran at Ibafo in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, pledging that Adetiran’s photograph would be conspicuously placed in the newly-built NYSC museum in Abuja.
