The Delta Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) has announced postponement of Ughelli North and Ethiope East elections.
DSIEC chairman Barr. Mike Ogbodu on Sunday said the Ughelli North and Ethiope East elections will now hold Tuesday 9th January 2018.
Ogbodu said elections could not hold in the two councils of Ughelli North where DSIEC office was set on fire by arms-wielding political thugs, and Ethiope East as a result of widespread violence.
Meanwhile, DSIEC has announced results of the council elections that held in the state yesterday with the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) clearing all the LGAs announced so far.
The DSIEC chairman noted that the result for Ika South could not be declared due to the absence of the returning officer, whom he said was indisposed.
Ogbodu said PDP clinched 424 councillorship seats, while APC won in only ward 02 of Aniocha North Local Government Area.
57 councilors of the PDP were returned unopposed.
