Nigeria’s Former Minister of Culture and Tourism, and former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, popularly referred to as FFK, has said the Yoruba nation should prepare for Oduduwa Republic, barring restructuring Nigeria.
Fani-Kayode was speaking yesterday at the Yoruba Summit held at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan when he made the statement.
“Ask Chief Obasanjo when he was there. They jailed them, they killed them, and brought Sharia law.
“They brought Boko Haram when Jonathan was there. We know what happened. I will not go too far here but I will say one thing. It is time for us to think again.
“If Nigeria is not restructured, if we do not have regional restructuring like my brother Gani just said now, if we don’t have that, I will tell you this for free let us prepare for Oduduwa Republic, end of story,” the Director of Media and Publicity at Jonathan/Sambo Presidential Campaign Organization said.
TheNewsGuru reports Yoruba elders and political juggernauts present at the summit had deliberated and summated that more powers must devolved to the states; that the executive list must be depopulated in favour of the States; that there must be a restructured Nigeria with emphasis on return to forms of government as practiced under the 1960 and 1963 Constitutions. That Nigeria should be returned to the Federal Constitution that was abrogated by military incursion in 1966 etc. in order to reenact the gains of the hitherto very strong Regional government that unleashed more development on the people as evident in “mass literacy, novel infrastructural strides and giant leaps in all spheres of human development”.
However, while reactions have continued to trail the position held by the Yoruba elder statesmen and political heavyweights, FFK strongly believes restructuring the country is the way to go, stressing “The Yoruba have spoken: it is restructuring or nothing”.
Great occassion at the Yoruba Summit in Ibadan today. The Yoruba have spoken: it is restructuring or nothing. Great to have been there.

“For us here today as leaders, we vote for restructuring as the first step. We appeal to the federal government, we appeal to all political leaders, all parties, let us restructure this country,” he pleaded at the summit.
