Read: Mathew 13:24-29
Meditation verse:
“But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away” (Mathew 13:25 NIV).
In the parable of the weeds, Jesus likens the Kingdom of heaven to a man who sowed good seed in his field. But whilst he was asleep, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
Satan is the enemy of all believers. The. bible refers to him as the accuser of brethren whose main task is to kill, steal and destroy. His desire is to sow tares in the different fields of your life. His tares include spiritual apathy, marital discord, sicknesses and diseases, discouragement, unbelief, financial hardship, and all kinds of crisis. He wants these tares to choke and eventually destroy the good seeds of your salvation and faith in Christ, so that your life will be devoid of the fruits of righteousness. Notice that the enemy could only sow tares in the man’s field whilst he was asleep. You must take heed so that your good seeds will not be destroyed by Satan’s tares.
How do you take heed? Here are some bible verses to help you. Mathew 26:41 says, “watch and pray lest you enter into temptation”. 1 Timothy 4:16 says “Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this, you will save both yourself and those who hear you”. 1 Corinthians 10:12 says “Therefore
let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he falls”. 2 Peter 1:5-8 says “but also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ”. Philippians 4:8 says,
“finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things”.
“Therefore brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things, you will never stumble”. (2 Peter 1:10).
