Morocco female referee, Bouchra Karboubi who officiated as the center referee when the Super Eagles of Nigeria played their last group A encounter against the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau has opened up on her experience and feelings after being the second female referee to have officiated in the men’s game.
According to Karboubi, refereeing the Nigeria v Guinea Bissau match was a big honour for her, saying she initially featured as the first female VAR referee in 2021.
Karboubi who spoke to Newsmen said upon realizing that she was to officiate Nigeria v Guinea Bissau, she felt apprehensive and stressed but got relieved as soon as the match started.
On officiating the match with other female officials, she noted that they all came out to make a statement to Africa and the World saying they ensured that they didn’t give room for mistakes that could consume them.
She however, encouraged young girls who are passionate about the job to take it up saying they will enjoy it and also make profits from it.
