One person was injured in an explosion near the Borussia Dortmund team bus while it was driving to their home stadium for Tuesday’s Champions League in Germany.
Dortmund originally said in a tweet that an “incident” occurred while the bus was departing for the Westfalenstadion, then confirmed an explosion had occurred.
An announcement made at the stadium said the injured person had been taken to a hospital.
Local police said they were at the scene following an explosion that shattered the windows of the bus.
“It is not yet possible to say exactly what the explosion was or exactly where something exploded,” a police statement said.
UEFA’s television said the match was “delayed,” and Dortmund said a decision on whether the game would go on would be made at 8:30 p.m. local time (2:30 p.m. ET).
Fans had already begun to enter the stadium, and the stadium announcement said the situation there was “safe” and that there was “no reason to panic.”
