Coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr may have tactically foreclosed the much talked about return of former goalkeeper and captain, Vincent Enyeama to the team as he has sounded a note of warning that the experienced goalkeeper will not return to become the captain of the team.
Rohr noted that Enyeama, who left the Super Eagles unceremoniously as team captain, after a row with former Coach, Sunday Oliseh, is free to return to the team, but insisted that the former captain of the team Vincent Enyeama won’t replace present captain John Obi Mikel.
Enyeama’s return has been on for some time now, but issues escalated when first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was diagnosed with Leukaemia leaving the team with Daniel Akpeyi who failed to convince in the 0-2 loss to South Africa.
Shortly before the back to back World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Cameroon, Rohr revealed Enyeama has agreed to return to the team but said the 34 year old is currently injured and having issues with his future at French side Lille.
“On the case of Enyeama, I want to say that he is welcome to the Eagles any time he wants”, Rohr said.
“Every Nigerian player playing regularly for a good club would be welcome to the Eagles, but I will not accept any player, who wants to dictate his role on the area or position to play”, Rohr noted.
