Former Liverpool striker, Danny Murphy has posited that Chelsea’s Cole Palmer is a better overall footballer than Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.
It would be recalled that Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer, scored a hat-trick on Thursday night to secure a late win against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Giving his position about the better forward between Palmer and Saka, Murphy told TalkSPORT that Palmer has more goals than Saka.
“He’s got more goals than Saka. Look, don’t get me wrong; I love Saka and he’s a right winger out and out, Palmer’s kind of playing there as a 10. But his all around game (Palmer’s) you could argue is better,” Murphy said.
“I’m not saying he’s a better right-winger than Saka but his all-round footballing ability, in terms of passing, linking, dropping in, because Saka doesn’t play that role as he does, so it’s not a fully fair comparison.”
He added: “But I don’t see why it’s not an argument to have that he can’t take the place of anyone in the England team, apart from Bellingham, because of his numbers.”
