Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers has given reasons he kept Nigeria international, Wilfred Ndidi on the bench for the larger part of the match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Ndidi, who has been a regular starter for the Foxes was surprisingly named among the substitutes in the game.
Frenchman Boubacar Soumare played in Ndidi’s position.
Ndidi was subbed in for Belgian Youri Tielemans in the 89minute of the encounter.
Leicester City lost 2-1 despite Chelsea playing with 10 men for the majority of the game.
“We wanted to come through the pitch quicker. Soumare has been great in training and he’s committed now to staying at the club, which is great,” Rodgers told BBC Sports Leicester.
“He (Soumare) allows us to play through the thirds quickly and that was the reason for him coming in instead.”
Leicester City are still without a win in the Premier League this season.
