World Cup defending champions, the Le Blues of France today zoomed into the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after defeating Morocco 2-0 at the At Bayt Stadium.
The French took the lead inside five minutes of the encounter as Theophilus Hernandez scored a beautiful volley to launch France into the lead.
Antoine Griezmann gets in behind the defence and he cuts the ball back for Kylian Mbappe. The striker shoots as red shirts charge towards him like moths to light but the blocked effort only fell into the path of AC Milan defender, Theo Hernandez who with a high volley put the ball past Bono to give France the lead.
Theo Hernández is the third defender to have both scored and assisted in a single World Cup tournament with France, after Marius Trésor in 1982 and Bixente Lizarazu in 1998.
In the 78th Minute, the ball falls for Randal Kolo Muani who with his first touch after being introduced few seconds earlier latched on to a loose ball inside Morocco’s 6 yard box for France’s second goal of the encounter.
It ended 2-0 in Favour of France.
This result meant France will play Argentina in the final of the Mundial on Sunday 18th December, 2022, whilst Morocco will slug it out with Croatia for the bronze medal match.
