Rangers International FC of Enugu on Sunday at Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium ,Enugu, played a 0-0 draw with J S Saoura of Algeria , and thereby booked a place in the next round of CAF Championship League
In the first leg, Rangers secured a 1-1 away draw against the opponents, thus taking advantage of the away goal to move into the second round.
Rangers Technical Adviser, Imama Amapakabo said that the players did not play well and promised that they will do better next time.
He regretted the players’ difficulties in converting the opportunities they had.
“I needed goals because we never prepared for draw, but an outright win. But luck says otherwise, that is football. The most important thing is that we have qualified for the next round,” he said.
JS Saoura goalkeeper, Djenili Houari, also expressed joy over his club’s performance and blamed the centre referee for their 0-0 draw.
“Some of the centre referees’ calls were not necessary and beside he was a little bit in favour of the home club’’
“We gave a good account of ourselves in the match as a debutant. That was a lesson to us. Next time, we will go far in the competition,’’ he said.
Houari said that the condition of the dressing room affected them because it was not in good shape
