The Management of Rangers International FC of Enugu says the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super-4 Tournament is a veritable test for its intending foreign players.
The NPFL Super-4 tournament will hold under floodlight between Dec. 7 and Dec. 11 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
The Media Director of Rangers, Foster Chime on Monday, said that dozens of foreign players currently in the team for screening will feature in the tournament.
Chime said that it was to make them to acclimatise with the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
He said that playing at the stadium under real match situations would afford the technical crew the ability to take a closer look at the players properly.
“This will afford the technical crew, according to its template, to know the foreign players to drop to and select the needed 10 to join the club’s 25 old players.
“According to African Football Confederation (CAF) standard, teams must have a minimum of 35 players to meet-up with continental and national engagements per football season,’’ he said.
The media director, however, assured the club’s teeming fans in Enugu and beyond of the Flying Antelopes readiness for the Super-4 tournament.
“We returned from Benin at the weekend and had gone into intensive training at Emene near Enugu knowing the task ahead, especially the forthcoming NPFL Super-4 tournament.
“The team is assuring football lovers of quality football and we are poised to make them happy by ensuring we deliver positive result in each match,’’ he said.
