Tottenham winger Erik Lamela has not been included in Argentina’s 35-man provisional squad for the World Cup in Russia.
Lamela missed the first three months of the season with injury, but has featured heavily in Mauricio Pochettino’s side since December, scoring twice in their 5-4 win over Leicester on the final day of the season.
Sergio Aguero is included in the squad despite undergoing keyhole surgery on a knee injury sustained in March.
The Manchester City striker, who has scored 30 goals in all competitions this season, joins a strong attacking line-up including Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain and Mauro Icardi.
Head coach Jorge Sampaoli has also named City defender Nicolas Otamendi, Manchester United’s Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo, West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini and Everton’s Ramiro Funes Mori.
They face Haiti in a warm-up match latest this month before the squad must be cut down to 23 by June 4.
Argentina’s first group stage game is against Iceland on June 16, before facing Croatia and Nigeria.
