Visibly angry Kevin De Bruyne was captured by the camera screaming at Guardiola and telling the manager to shut up during their Champions League second leg semi-final thrashing of Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
Manchester City spanked Real Madrid by 4-0 at the Etihad to reach UCL final by 5-1 on aggregate.
The Premier League champions secured a place in the final of Europe’s elite competition where they will play Italian giants, Inter on June 10.
Two first-half goals from Bernardo Silva handed City a deserved lead, while a late double from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez completed the victory for Guardiola’s side.
Madrid improved after the break and although they still barely troubled City, an anxious Guardiola was seen losing his cool with De Bruyne on the touchline when the Belgian lost the ball at one point in the second half.
Television cameras caught Guardiola telling De Bruyne to pass the ball and City’s talisman screamed ‘shut up, shut up’ at his manager after losing possession.
‘At 2-0 we rushed a lot,’ Guardiola told Spanish broadcaster Movistar after the City’s win.
‘Right after the break [Ilkay] Gundogan lost a ball, Kevin made three transitions that weren’t necessary and we rushed a lot when we had to do the opposite, sink them and turn them, sink them and turn them.
‘But it’s normal. It gets close, you rush, and it has cost us more, although in general we have had an extraordinary game.’
