The board and management of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, yesterday met in Keffi, Nasarawa state, with the resolve to strengthen the organization’s operational efficiency, and to re-strategize on service delivery.
The summit, which was held at the Alhaji Dr. Muhammadu Chindo Yamusa II (OFR) Conference Hall, was to review the implementation of the Strategic Management Plan (SMP) 2014-2018, the 8-Point Agenda, and other strategic documents connected with the work processes of the organization towards accomplishing its mandate.
At the summit, the NCC said it is re-strategizing on improving the quality of telecom service delivery to Nigerians, on the need to increase the tempo of democratization of access to services, and to explore processes to increase the contribution of the telecommunications/ICT sector to the GDP.
Organized by the Corporate Planning and Strategy (CPS) department and tagged ‘Creating and Sustaining Operational Efficiency Across NCC, participants at the summit critically analysed and reviewed the level of compliance with the organization’s redesigned internal policies and work processes. The SMP was undertaken to underscore how the linkages and adherence to policy and the Standard Operating Procedure Manual enhance operational efficiency.
Participants had brainstorming sessions to draw up an agenda on leapfrogging departmental strategic initiatives using the CPS Focal Persons as an organic indispensable factor in the sustenance of operational efficiency.
The Focal Persons, otherwise called ‘Change Champions’ in the NCC is a group of staff representing departments of the Commission under the auspices of the CPS department to attend to matters relating to NCC’s strategic plans.
The Keffi Summit was marked by impressive attendance and participation of all Management Staff of the Commission, including the Executive Commissioner Stakeholder Management, Mr. Sunday Dare, all Directors, all Deputy Directors and many others.
