The federal lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency in Oyo State Akin Alabi, is in celebratory mood after he won a second term in the just concluded elections, following a poor rating on social media.
Reacting to his victory after the announcement on Monday, Alabi said: “I lost on twitter. I won in real life. There is a difference between the two”.
The lawmaker also made a bet of N1million last July after he was challenged by the irokotv boss Jason Njoku, for boasting that the Labour Party (LP) would not get 15 votes in his polling unit at United Anglican Primary School, Ajiwogbo, Jooda, Egbeda.
“Hon @akinalabi feels Labour Party can’t get 15 votes in his polling unit at Ajiwogbo, Ward 4, Egbeda Local Government, Ibadan. N1m to a charity is at stake,” Njoku said in a published on July, 10, 2022.
Alabi has now reached out Njoku requesting that the bet money be redeemed.
“I said labour wouldn’t get 15 votes in my unit. Guess how many they got. A BIG FAT ZERO. My bro @JasonNjoku, I will like my N1m to go to the payment of hospital bills of some of my constituents,” Alabi demanded in a tweet.
However, checks by TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) revealed that the LP scored four votes at the said polling unit and as of at the time of filing this report, Njoku was yet to respond.
