The numbers of Internet subscribers in Nigeria have continued to soar, according to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) data released for the month of June.
The data available on NCC website, shows the number of active subscribers for data services on each of the licensed service providers utilizing the different technologies increased from 91,595,319 in May to 91,629,066 last month.
This figures show an increase of 33,747 in the numbers of Internet subscribers in the country.
An analysis by TheNewsGuru reveals that Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) contributed only a paltry 30,309 to the figures with Multilinks recording 4 subscribers and Visafone having 30,305 subscribers.
The CDMA figures have remained unchanged since November last year.
The analysis further shows that Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) leading the pack with 91,598,757 Internet subscribers has MTN with the highest number of Internet subscribers.
While MTN leads with 31,691,070 subscribers, Globacom follows next with 27,184,002 subscribers and Airtel with 20,174,089 subscribers.
The subscribers of embattled Etisalat Nigerian, that is now 9mobile, stand at 12,549,596 recording a decrease from 12,843,424 subscribers it had in May.

The percentage market share by technology for the month of June shows that while 99.7% of Nigerians are utilizing telecommunications services on Mobile GSM, 0.14% consume telecoms services on CDMA.
A meager 0.09% and 0.03% of Nigerians are hooked to the Internet using Fixed (wireless/wired) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) respectively.
Market share data by operators data shows that MTN remains the biggest telecoms player in Nigeria.
