A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has revealed a secret about the marriage of the General Overseer Worldwide of the RCCG, Pastor E. A. Adeboye to his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Foluke Adeboye.
Pastor Sam Atewe of the RCCG Hope Centre, Lagos Province 3 on Sunday while speaking on a message titled “Love for a lifetime” revealed the marriage between Pastor Adeboye and his wife, which is clocking 50 years, has not had a quarrel for those numbers of years.
Pastor Atewe admonished Christian couples must imbibe biblical principles of marriage that have worked.
Reading from the Bible book of 1st Corinthians chapter 13 from verse 1 through to 8, the man of God admonished Christian marriages must be rooted on charity, which he said encompasses the import of love that marriages need to survive a lifetime.
He said the matter of love and Christian marriages transcends the matter of physical appearance; saying “it is a covenant”.
“Marriage is a spiritual agreement made by a man and woman in the presence of God,” Atewe preached, and said the party involved must learn to love the God’s way.
“Love is giving; love is caring; love is forgiving; love is sacrificing; love is kind; love is selflessness; love is affection; love is consideration; love is submission
“Love is the pillar of marriage; love lasts forever; love is for better for worse; love makes a man a woman wrapper, and love makes a woman a man’s trouser,” the pastor said.
He further stated that for Christian marriages to succeed, Christian couples must diligently live by the teaching of Ephesians chapter 5 from verse 21 to 25.
Pastor Atewe told Christians who are not yet married to pray and seek the face of God before contracting marriage, stressing challenges only tear apart marriages that are not rooted in on biblical principles.
He said singles must ask questions about, and investigate their prospective marriage partner through the instrument of the church before ever making a move, let alone getting married to the person.
Pastor Atewe cautioned single Christians to be very careful in engaging in Internet relationships. He advised singles must be extremely careful as what appears to be all golden on the Internet may not be so in real life. He said singles must exercise extreme caution in contracting marriages on the social media.
He stressed marriages built on physical attraction only, wrong courtship, speed dating, do not last.
He further stated that LGBT would never be allowed to thrive in the Church, stressing homosexuals and its likes is forbidden in the Church.
The Church’s service rounded off with the monthly thanksgiving of the RCCG with song ministrations led by the Hope Psalmist and Davidic dancing by congregants.
