Following the need to ensure hitch-free polls in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday, February 12, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Sunday Babaji, has announced that there will be a curfew on the said date.
According to a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, the restriction would come into effect between the period of 12mid night – 4 pm of the said date.

“Adequate security measures have been put in place to forestall any threat during the polls, hence electorates should turn out to exercise their voting rights without fear of any kind,” the statement added.

The CP also reminded all stakeholders in the election to be abreast of their signed peace accord and ensure that their actions and inactions were ushered by constituted guidelines.
Election to hold across the six area councils making up the FCT
Recall that prior to the notice from the police, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had hinted that elections will not hold in 593 polling units owing to their recent creation without valid voting population deployed to those places.
