Rapper and actor, Folarin Falana has averred that he will not sign a deal that will enslave him.
The outspoken artiste made this known in a chat with Bounce Radio anchored by media personality, Ebuka Obi Uchendu.
In his words:” I want to increase my listener-ship.If people are listening to me in China, in Korea , in the US and UK, that’s okay, of course I want a big reach. Most of the time the reason people want to cross over is because they are looking for some sort of approval from the ‘abroad people’.I won’t sign a deal that will enslave me because I want international reach.I will not do that.A lot of people are signing deals, I don’t know if they are enslaving themselves”.
Sharing his opinion on 2020, he said:”Its difficult to talk about 2020 without going into too much detail. It is difficult to talk about 2020 without feeling sad, feeling down that you are going through something through.Everyone will agree that 2020 is by far the roughest year yet, just in terms of everything”.
Falz who is multi-talented said he prefers to call himself an entertainer than narrowing his brand to a label.
“I just like to look at myself as an entertainer.Thankfully I am a brand.Good luck has a role in it.It is a combination of that and me trying to strategically direct this to that.A combination of all that made such a brand that is all encompassing”.
Asked about why he is passionate about advocating about societal ills, he said:”I have never really thought it was okay to not be humane, to not care about people’s feelings or their rights or entitlements.I cannot exist in Nigeria and not make music that reflects what is going on”.
