Popular rapper and singer, Azeez Fashola better known as Naira Marley has promised to shoot a musical video in partnership with the Lagos state government to support the ongoing fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
TheNewsGuru recalls that the state government withdrew its charges against the singer alongside and Babatunde Gbadamosi, former governorship candidate, for flouting the lockdown directives.
Part of the conditions for the withdrawal of the charges was that they must write an apology letter to the governor and president to indicate their remorsefulness.
In his apology letter dated April 9 and addressed to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Marley declared his commitment to support the fight against the pandemic in the state.
“I hereby undertake to join the Lagos State campaign against the spread of the COVID-19 by making a free audio-visual publication towards the campaign against COVID-19,” the letter partly read.
“Thank you and I remain committed to the development of Lagos State.”
This is coming after Akindele and Abdulrasheed Bello, her husband, were sentenced to 14-day community service each for going against social distance measures put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
