The government of the United Kingdom has expressed concerns over paedophiles operating out of the reach of the law on WhatsApp.
British interior minister, Amber Rudd expressed this concern on Tuesday in Manchester while addressing a group of activists.
He decries end-to-end encryption communication on WhatsApp has made it possible for paedophiles and other criminals to operate beyond the reach of the law.
“We also know that end to end encryption services like WhatsApp, are being used by paedophiles.
“I do not accept it is right that companies should allow them and other criminals to operate beyond the reach of law enforcement.
“We must require the industry to move faster and more aggressively. They have the resources and there must be greater urgency,” Rudd said.
