A former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and joins the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
This is the coming at the height of theno political landscape between Shekarau and the current Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
TheNewsGuru.com recalls that former Director General of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s Support Group AbdulMumin Jibrin, had earlier joined the NNPP, abandoning the ruling party also.
Incidentally, it was Jibrin that announced Shekarau’s defection on his Twitter handle.

Later, the party tweeted photographs of the visit of NNPP leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to Shekarau’s home.

“His Excellency Engr Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso paid a congratulatory visit today to former Gov (Sen) Ibrahim Shekarau after he decamped to NNPP,” the party posted.
Shekarau represents Kano Central in the Senate.
The 66 year-old senator was a former Nigerian minister of education and two-term Governor of Kano State in Nigeria.
He was elected in April 2003 and re-elected in April 2007.
The former Governor was one of the candidates who aspired to become president in the Nigerian general elections of 2011.
