In their bid to recall Dino Melaye [Sen.] representing Kogi West Senatorial District of Kogi State, constituents from Kogi West, where the senator hails from, are mobilised themselves to unitedly sign a petition to ensure the ‘Melaye Recall Project’.

Recall that TheNewsGuru.com had earlier reported that Melaye has been at loggerheads with the state governor, Yahaya Bello, and the sole administrator of Ijumu Local Government Area, Taofiq Isah, who is currently standing trial for an alleged assassination attempt on the lawmaker’s life.

The local council development areas involved in the recall process in Kogi West Senatorial District of the state are Ijumu, Kabba/Bunu, Lokoja, Kogi, Mopa/Amuro, Yagba West and Yagba East.

In some of the live photo, video feeds from some of the councils, TheNewsGuru.com gathered that collection of signatures took place at Lokoja and Kogi local government councils on Friday and continued at Ijumu, Yagba West and Yagba East on Saturday as people came out with photocopies of their permanent voter cards to put their names down.

Speaking on the recall Dino Melaye saga, Melaye himself however, said he was not perturbed by the developments, insisting that those seeking his recall are not his constituents.

He said, “I am not scared, I am not perturbed; they are sponsored by Smart Adeyemi and my governor. And I want to tell you that those who even came to ask for the recall are not my constituents and it is unfortunate that they did not even know what to do. INEC told them to go back and do what they are supposed to do.”

Senator Melaye also dismissed the audio tape, claiming it is the handiwork of Senator Smart Adeyemi, who he defeated in the 2015 election, and Sahara Reporters.

He said, “That tape is the product of a Satanic collabo between Smart Adeyemi, Sahara Reporters, and others. And I want to assure you that they are wasting their time.

“If they have any authenticity in the lies they are projecting, they should approach the police, approach relevant security agencies to prosecute me. I am not going to waste my time over lies and fabrication.”
