Delta State frontline politician, Chief Fred Majemite has advised the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria COREN and other relevant agencies to regularly monitor building projects across Nigeria to minimize alarming rate of building collapse in the country.
The former Commissioner for Lands and Surveys made the call when he visited the Asaba Specialist Hospital to commiserate with victims of a recent Church Building Collapse at Okpanam .
He said the increasing rate of Building Collapse in urban and rural communities were traceable to the unprofessional imput of quacks and advocated for regular monitoring of different stages in the construction of buildings by professional bodies and individuals.
The former Commissioner who was at the paediatric and female surgical wards thanked God that the patients were recuperating fast and pledged to assist government in offsetting the medical bills.
He Commended the state government for constituting a Committee to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the building emphasizing that the team will also proffer solution to the problem.
To those who lost dear ones at the unfortunate incident,Chief Majemite condoled with them and prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the collosal loss.
He equally called on well spirited Deltans to rally round government, the family of the deceased and those in the hospital to cushion their pains as the ugly incident was a time to fellowship with those affected directly or indirectly.
Chief Majemite was conducted round the wards by the Chief Medical Director of the Asaba Specialist Hospital Dr peace Ighosewe.
