The Presidency on Wednesday announced the signing of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Bill.
The Presidential Liaison Officer, Senator Ita Enang, confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari signed the consumer protection bill into law.
He said: “The bill is meant to promote economic efficiency, maintain competitiveness in the Nigerian market and protect the welfare of consumers.”
Concise News reports that the president had earlier declined assent to five bills,which he gives Reasons For not signing.
Some of the Bills he rejected are; Maritime Security Operations Coordinating Board (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (Amendment) Bill 2018.
Others are Bankruptcy and Insolvency Bill 2018, Federal Polytechnic (Amendment) Bill 2018 and The Energy Commission (Amendment) Bill.
